Kava Point Kava Bar & Smoke Shop is one of those spots in Davie that regulars call a home away from home, and once you spend an evening here you understand why. It's a kava bar and smoke shop rolled into one big, chill space, with a cyber-underground kind of ambiance, clouds painted on the ceiling, and a backyard with food, seating, and corn hole. Ask anyone who hangs here and they'll point you to the games first: pool tables, foosball, board games, and a gaming corner with what one regular swears is the biggest TV he's seen at any kava bar, complete with consoles for Super Smash Bros. Mario Kart tournaments.

The people are what keep this place packed. Vishnu comes up again and again as the guy who takes the time to explain kava and kratom, mixes the best drinks, and keeps the whole room feeling welcome. Eric (some spell it Erik) has a following of his own for his playlists and attentiveness, and folks also ask for Kat, Gabi, Ashley, Coby, and Jose. New face or weekly regular, the crew makes a point of treating you well.

As someone who studies or works on a laptop here will tell you, it's a comfortable place to settle in for a while without feeling rushed. Fair warning we've heard more than once: closing time comes fast, and the lights and chairs go up right at the hour, so it's not the place to roll in for a long night at a quarter to two. Come earlier and you'll catch the community that makes Kava Point one of the best-loved spots in Davie.
