Ask anyone who knows cigars around Stuart and Black Dog Cigar Bar comes up fast. This is one of the highest-regarded cigar shops on the Treasure Coast, and the walk-in humidor is a big reason why. People who shop here swear by the range, everything from Acid and Oliva to Davidoff and Perdomo, all kept in great shape and priced fair, with regular specials worth watching for. Alongside the cigars you'll find tobacco pipes, pipe tobacco, and the accessories to go with them.

The lounge itself is what keeps regulars coming back. It's clean, open, and roomy, with comfortable leather chairs, several TVs including a big 80-inch screen for game days, and an outdoor patio for anyone who wants to sit outside. There's a solid drink selection too, beer on tap and in bottles, wine, plus espresso and coffee. One regular summed up the patio simply and said it's worth coming for on its own.

Fair warning we've heard once or twice: some of the outdoor seating runs to high-top stools, so a few folks wish for a little more low seating out there. The real heart of the place is the people. Jeff, the owner, gets named again and again as the guy who makes newcomers and seasoned smokers alike feel right at home, laid-back, generous with recommendations, and happy to talk cigars for as long as you like. AJ the manager and Herb round out a crew that knows their stuff and makes the welcome easy.

Then there's Dexter, the big black dog who greets everyone and, by more than one account, is the best part of the whole visit. If you're a local or passing through Stuart, Florida, this is the kind of spot where an afternoon slips away and you end up planning your next visit before you leave. A genuine local favorite, and an easy recommendation for anyone who loves a good cigar.
