Downtown Smoking Club

If there's one name you'll hear over and over at Downtown Smoking Club, it's Al. The owner (some folks know him as Albert) has been running this Lansing cigar spot since 2007, and ask anyone who's spent an evening here and they'll tell you the man is the heart of the place. He shakes your hand, shows you around, walks you through the different cigars and how everything works, and makes newcomers feel like family from the moment they step in. More than one first-timer has walked out with a free cigar and a plan to come back.

This is an old-school cigar club, plain and simple. Locals call it an institution, and the vibe is rustic and relaxed, the kind of room where you can lay your hat after a long day and unwind with something good. There's plenty of space, a patio to hang out on, and you can even buy a locker if you want to make it a regular thing, which a lot of the regular crew have done. The word around Lansing is the crowd here is as welcoming as the owner, so even if you're just passing through town you'll find friendly faces.

On the cigars, Al keeps a solid selection at prices people keep calling very reasonable. One regular grabbed a Key Lime South Beach cigar and was happy to sit and enjoy it right there. Smoking accessories round things out. The club stays open late, which is a big part of the draw for folks who want somewhere to land after work, though we've heard the odd grumble about hours not always matching what's posted, so it's worth a quick call before a late run.

For hospitality, though, people around town will tell you that you won't find better in all of Lansing. Come once and you'll understand why so many have made it a staple of their week.
