Paul's Cigars

Paul's Cigars has been part of the Vancouver, Washington scene since 1971, and it carries the kind of history you can feel the moment you walk in. Family owned and once known as the local Tinderbox, this shop has spent decades earning the trust of pipe smokers and cigar folks across the Pacific Northwest. Ask anyone who shops here and they'll point you to the humidor first. Regulars swear the cigars come out fresh and flavorful every time, and the selection is genuinely huge, with everything from My Father to Arturo Fuente sticks and even the occasional coffee cigar that people plan celebrations around.

The pipe side is just as serious. Locals will tell you they keep over a dozen bulk pipe tobaccos on hand, including aromatic and English blends, plus a real spread of briar, meerschaum, and corn cob pipes. If you're after a proper name, they stock Savinelli, Nording, Caminetto, Ascorti, Viking Classics, and Missouri Meerschaum, along with cutters and the accessories to go with them. Cigarettes, rolling papers, and general smoking accessories round out the shelves.

What keeps people coming back, though, is the staff. The word around Vancouver is that the crew here knows their stuff and takes the time to explain it. Jamie gets named more than once for being patient and genuinely kind, and more than one person has walked out with a free cigar cutter tossed in. One newcomer stopped in on a recommendation from another shop that told them Paul's had "the good stuff," and they weren't disappointed.

Prices sit in fair territory too, with room for the budget-minded smoker as well as folks reaching for something special. A couple of people have had gripes about construction on individual cigars, which is a maker issue as much as anything, but the overall reputation here is strong and well earned.
